So this computer was damaged and would not even power on. I took it apart, cleaned out all the parts (it had seen some bad days) and put it all back together. I booted it up and it worked - except for the backlight on the display. Assuming it was just a backlight issue, I plugged it in and went to play around with it that way.

Plugging it in did nothing. I can still SEE content on the screen, however when I go to the Display Manager in System Preferences, I see it recognises the other monitor - this monitor gets no signal however. What exactly is going on here?
