Hey guys, when I insert a disk it does the normal sucking in noise and clunky sounds. When it tries to read the disk more fully it makes a very loud/extreme roaring sound. VERY LOUD! I have a video with sound. It is processing on youtube.. Once it is up I will post the link. In the meantime, do you have any ideas on what is going on?

It is worth a trip to the Apple Store, as it sounds as a faulty superdrive.

Does it happens every-time? With certain CDs only?

try a different disc of a different kind. Mine made wierd noises once and i immediately took the disc out and never did it again. I think the disc was all messed up or something. maybe totally different problem though.

Where was the video of the computer? When it is video and sound you need to actually provide video.

It sounded fake like a chainsaw reving until the end when you moved your camera.

    Sounded bad get it replaced.

It was recorded through internal mic which is on the other side of the computer. I just made it a video in iMovie, no exaggeration that is how it sounds.

This is the sound the drive makes when it can't read the disk in a certain way. If it appears to the drive that the disk may be slightly off center, it spins it up in an attempt to rebalance it on the spindle. Sometimes this works, and sometimes it doesn't.

Is the disk warped or flat? Does it have any sticker or other weight on it to unbalance it? Is it unevenly dirty?
