Hey all,

Just received my 15'' MBP w/ Touch bar. I have a mid2012 rMBP that I am upgrading from. One thing I noticed is that the black colors on my new MBP are less "intense" or more dull than my old MBP. On my old MBP they look much deeper and much blacker. It seems the colors on my old one seem a lot sharper and brighter, they look more intense which I like. Is there a setting that I should be changing on my new MBP to have that deep contrast like my old one? I've been comparing each setting and trying to make my new MBP have the same settings as my old MBP but nothing is really changing. Is this how the new MBP screens really are like? thank you!

Do you have TrueTone on?

Nope, that is the first thing I did, I turned TrueTone off and turned off Auto-Brightness.....

Maybe consider that the new MacBooks Pros have 500nits worth of brightness whereas your older 2012 model is rated at 300 nits. That could be causing your blacks to be less black.

Maybe you're right... the new screen does seem a bit brighter but in turn makes the blacks and dark colors not deep like the older ones. ::sigh:: I guess I'll just have to accept it.... thanks for the help! I appreciate it!

sounds like that AC/DC song "seems like my TOUCH....TOUCHbar breaks too much"
the bon scott era

You could consider color calibrating the screen to your exact needs? There was a time I needed this as I am partially color blind...
