Macbook Pro Trackpad Issues

My friend's trackpad for his MacBook Pro is not working for some reason. He says he's noticed his Macbook is overheating, but he says it's always been like that

My friend says it works with Windows, but not with Leopard..

Is there a possible way he could've locked the trackpad on leopard but not windows?
