So do you guys think I should get the 128 or 256? I looked and my macbook is only about half full right now and its actually a 120gb ssd.

How long do you plan to keep it?
If you're planning to keep it for 7 years again like your old macbook, then probably you should get at least 256.

I know you can use external storage, etc. for files but I would assume the revised OS and related applications will require more space down the road.

Yeah that's a valid point. I'll get the 256 hopefully today! Thanks!

256gb would be great.

Yeah I agree. I found a good deal so I'm just gonna go for it.

They won't let me use both my student discount and the moving discount. They said I can only use one or the other

My last MBP was 4 years ago when I was a 45 year old student ... just bought a refurb, which is basically the same machine.
I'll bump the ram to 16 and maybe get the SSD next year.

That 4+ year old MBP stills works like brand new ... going to reset it and gift it to Mom for Christmas.

She has an iPhone 6s and an iPad mini, but has never owned an Apple computer.

That's bull. I did the same thing when purchasing my 15" Retina MacBook at Best Buy and they honored both coupons. Not to mention, the computer was already on sale for $200 less.

I also know of (at least) two other people here who took advantage of both coupons simultaneously. I would go to another Best Buy and try. Use their obstinance against them. Threaten to leave if they don't honor both coupons. You'll gain even more leverage if you barter the purchase of a protection plan for the use of both coupons.

Which model are you seeking? I would undoubtedly go Retina.

Today I went back and noticed that the MBPr 15" was on sale for $1,699. I asked again about the coupons and they honored them! Thanks guys!

As a student you want test to be kind to your eyes with all the reading. Go for retina.

Camt stress that enough. When im job hunting on a regular laptop id go for 4 hours before tapping out. On my new rmbp 4 hours is a breeze and i cam still see straight after 6 hours.

Yeah I'm really happy that I got the retina. The 15" is going to make all of my excel work less strenuous on my eyes also.

That's very true. I'm not at all concerned about price, just the most value for my money and how long it will last.

Both retina and non-retina will last, for sure. The issue is, you'll likely appreciate the retina purchase down the road when non-retina starts to look aged.

Also, SSD all day.

Spend the $200 or so and go retina. You won't regret it.

I got a retina...

Damn what a price, congrats!

I just bought the same computer less than 2 weeks ago at $1799 from Best Buy then got it down to $1569 with the coupons. I thought the price could not be beat. Much less within 2 weeks.

I guess Best Buy can, in fact, be the "best" buy

I paid 2.100$ after student discount for the 13 inch with 128 in late 2009 :p crazy how prices of technology change

You should go back and have BB refund you the extra $100 plus tax. They should as long as you are within the return window. That's what I did on Wednesday when I saw the price drop.

Did you use the coupons on yours? Like were you able to have it adjusted then got the coupons reapplied? Which would bring it to like $1479.

These few days around Black Friday, Best Buy won't price match (or the like). I tried yesterday.

I could have bought a new machine then returned my current one but I don't want to go through the hassle. Not to mention the one I got operates flawlessly and has (at least so far) a defect-free display.

I bought it a couple of weeks ago for $1799 + 10% movers coupon for total of $1619 plus tax. On Wednesday this week I noticed the price had dropped to $1699. So I went back to BB with my receipt and they did a price adjustment. So now the cost of my 15" rMBP is $1529 plus tax. Not too shabby.

Damn -- I wish I had noticed. Well, the holiday return policy is so long, the computer could conceivably drop back down to $1699 while in the return window.
