I'm thinking of getting one. but how slow is slow exactly? The same as a G4 running the apps slow? Or slower? Cos if its not coming out for a year i might just get a g4? Without adobe, i only use the machine for light things, and a g4 can handle that. I want the MBP for the power of heavy apps? What do you guys think?

I had a PowerMac dual G4 867 with 1.5GB of ram. Recently sold it and bought Macbook Pro. When running adobe/macromedia apps...I find that as long as I have no more than 2 apps open at the same time, its fine. performance is STILL better than the dual 867. but i know it could perform better if run natively.

if i have multiple apps open (itunes, safari, mail, and all apps) - it doesnt run as smooth as i would like...

so when your designing, just limit the # of apps you have open until the native versions come out...then im sure it wont be an issue.

let me know if this helps!

If I were you, I'd tough it out until CS3 drops because you'll most likely get Macromedia Apps and Adobe apps all in one package.

Here's to hoping that the 2007 release date is just to cover themselves in case of an unforseen setback. Perhaps will see it later this year and if it is 2007, I hope it will be January. Leopard + CS3 + Intel PowerMac (Mac Pro?) is going to be sweeeet!

Breaking at dead ends is a great song btw.

Any ideas how to load Illustrator 10? (in reponse to albertfreelifestyle)

Hi there
I have been a macbook user for 6 months, and purchased an version of illustrator 10 (old copy that has never been used) for it . I have been frustrated to find that I cant load it however!
Despite trying everything on the adobe technical pages (copying the disk to my hard drive, gererating and logging on as a new user, I always get the same merror message:
The application InstallerVISE quit unexpectedly.
Mac os x and other applications are not affected.

I would prefer this old version since I dont use it enough to justify an up to date copy + it is simpler.

I saw that albertfreelifestyle was using illustrator 10- how did he load it?
ANy ideas would be fantastic!
