ive got a western digital external hardrive that ive been using for a year or so now, whilst using it i tried ejecting it and it froze my macbook, so i unplugged it then tried plugging it in again but this time the hardrive isnt icon isnt appearing, i tryed it on a pc and everythings fine so again i plugged it into my macbook and when i tried ejecting it it froze and now my macbook wont read it at all but a pc will?

thanks

What hard drive did you get? What interface are you using (USB, Firewire)?
What MacBook do you have?

You could try to reset the PRAM:

After you shut down the computer, press the power button and immediately hold down the Command, Option, P, and R keys simultaneously until you hear the startup sound a second time. This resets the parameter RAM (PRAM).

Or reset the SMC:

If the computer is on, turn it off.
Disconnect the AC Adapter and remove the computer's battery.
Press and hold down the power button for 5 seconds and then release the button.
Reconnect the battery and AC Adapter.
Press the Power button to restart the computer.

The SMC reset helped me recognizing external Firewire hard drives.
