Here is a review of Hybrid SLI - basically, it works in real world tests.

The 9600M should perform about 50-75% faster than the 9400M.

Is it not reasonable to expect up to a 50% increase from 9600M + 9400M over 9600M alone?

The possible increment in performance is not as linear as that. Even with a normal SLI mode, 2 equal GPU's, you can't get twice the performance, or an increase of 100%. That's the intention of Intel's Larabee project, I think.

Well, it would be nice if Geforce Boost were supported under Vista. Then using a MacBook Pro could be more fun.

I'm sure nvidia already have drivers for Vista. The only issues are laptop drivers are first given to laptop manufacturer for additional tweaking. But since Apple laptops doesn't support Windows, you're out of luck. The other option is hopefully the modder community will create one that would work with Apple laptops.

From what I read, SLI doesn't give you automatic double performance (using identical GPUs). If you were able to run at a resolution with medium setting using one card, an additional card allows you to use same resolution with high setting using SLI.

After a quick reading, I have to say you are correct :D

normal SLI mode (almost) double the performance of the Nvidia260..nice. didn't know it was so scalable.

early 2008 mbp

so will older MBP's with the nvidia 8600GT take advantage of snow lep and the graphics tech or only the MBP's using nvidia chipsets?

I'm still wondering if anyone running Windows w/ Boot Camp has even checked to see if the SLI option is available, or tried downloading SLI-compatible drivers.

Good news though.

I wonder when they are gonna update to enable this... Ah well, I'm gonna stick with the macbook for school. Got my mac pro at home for when I need the beast.
