with the new macbook being unveiled to the media on tuesday 14th of october, how long will it be until they are available for purchase? what it the usual amount of time you have to wait to buy that new product from apple?

many thanks

1-3 days for it to be built, it takes 24 hours for it to ship otherwise. How long it will take for them to appear is unknown at this point in time. I presume the same day for pre-ordering.

any idea of how long till it will be available in apple high street stores?

The last three new products that I can think of (iPhone, iPod touch, macbook air) have all taken at least a few weeks from introduction to the time that they're available in stores.

Man! You beat me to respond to newbie. Yeah it usually takes a couple of weeks with hardware product releases.

does anyone know how long after the release of the new macbook the older models will decrease in price and if so how much of a decrease could be expected?

It's only when new products are released like the iphone, ipod touch and macbook air, that the stock is unavailable for a couple of weeks or till when steve set's a release date.

When the last macbook and macbook pro was announced, our store had stock within 48 hours and were in australia.

With previous models, if stores still have stock, they usually discount by 8-10% of the new model price. But if rumors are try about more price points this could differ this time
