I have a pre unibody Macbook pro core 2 duo.

As of right now, my screen will not turn on. There is a chime at startup, I can even login blind open up iTunes and play songs. (through keyboard shortcuts I am familiar with)

I have connected an external monitor though the DVI pot and it does not seem to detect it. I have also tried starting up in "clamshell" mode, and it has not worked.

Something else I noticed is when I close my macbook it does not fall asleep as usual, it just continues to run.

I've messed around with the reed switch, which hasn't helped either.

I have reset PRAM and PMU.

I should mention that i have once been able to get the external monitor to work. I do not know how it happened, but 1 out of 1000 startups it has worked as a secondary display. I restarted and it was no longer working>

I am looking for suggestions on how to either get my Macbook screen working or get my external monitor to be detected.

Thank you so much, New user. My hopes are up.

    GPU issue, maybe?

Which means a new computer, because a new logic board costs a loooot.
