OMG people it's a piece of freaking GLASS. Glass has been around for a while, you might have heard of it. It's not sapphire (ever price a sapphire watch crystal? a 2" diameter one is $75, which would make a 13" screen about $1000). iKlear was for the polymer based screens of yore...for glass it's pointless and a waste of money, and if you are convinced otherwise, consider yourself a marketing victim.

The new MBs clean up BEAUTIFULLY with 2 paper towels...one dampened with a special liquid...wait for it...WATER, and the other one dry. Wipe with the damp one, then wipe with the dry one. There, I just saved you $10 and more endless discussion.

that's why i'm asking, so that i can save some money and hassle of buying the iklear. i guess tap water should just be fine ...

Some regular water on a microfiber cloth will do the trick.
Cleaning a piece of glass does not need to be some complicated that it requires a special product, like iKlean.

TAP WATER?! Nooo... you can only use bottled water so there won't be any impurities in it....

:p

hi all,
i'm wondering if i can clean the new macbook alu screen with alcohol. since the new screen has a glass shield, i figure it probably won't hurt the screen as it would to the old matte screen if i use alcohol. am i right?

I wouldnt use alcohol as others have stated. I bought a Scotch Brite microfiber cloth from Target. It works wonders!! Ive never even had to wet it.
I would avoid any type of liquid directly on your MacBook. If you must, moisten the microfiber cloth. Thats about as far as I would go.
