MacBook Screen problems

Yesterday the screen on my Mac Book stopped working properly. The display is constantly on the darker, inactive setting (like when the computer isn't used for a couple of seconds, not fully black as if asleep) and does not light up when used as usual. I have only had the computer since January, and need to know whether this is simply a settings issue or a hardware problem. Many thanks.

sounds like a hardware issue, have you got your screen brightness set to full?

That's what I feared. Currently brightness is on full, and its about the same as what is was before on half brightness.

you might have a broken back light, but yeah id would ring and check with apple

Found the problem, and it's not as bad as I thought. The screen kept reducing brightness to zero itself, for some reason, but its sorted now. many thanks
