MacBook screen shows purple flickering

My Macbook pro late 2016 suddenly shows purple flickering. On a white background the flickering is less notable than on a dark background. if I move something around the flickering increases and decreases. My macbook had a software update today but I don't know if the flickering happened right after the update or not it just suddenly appeared right out of the blue.
