So i notice one day that someone had tried to log into my laptop because the secret question was displayed. It wasn't insecure place and i pretty much know who did it but it got me thinking about laptop security.

First, it made me wonder if there was a third party program that would take a picture or video using the isight when someone entered and incorrect password at the login for the third time. is there something like that out there, how hard would that be to create?

And second that got me thinking about overall security. Macbooks, not pros, but the regular ones, have a pretty big security issue, which is also one of the best, and that is the user replacable hd. There shoud be a better locking mechanism for the battery, i mean anyone with a quarter and 3 minuntes alone with your computer can steal your hard drive. I just kinda thought of that, has it happened to anyone?

If you enable File Vault, or even create an encrypted disk image where you store all of the important data, the fact that someone can take your disk out is minimized, as your data is still safe. And if you place a firmware password on your mac, even if someone steals the disk and places another in, they wont be able to boot off it.

EDIT: There is a program or script that does take a picture of whoever is using the computer after they enter the password incorrectly, but i cannot remember its name, maybe some other forum members will know.
