Macbook shows up as two machines.

Recently my Macbook started showing up twice under shared in the finder sidebar.

The first one shows up properly as my Macbook, and the second shows up as pc with the blue screen monitor icon. Does anyone know why this is and how to fix it?

VMware fusion or Parallels?

I believe this can happen if you are running either.

Sorry to respond so late. No, I'm not running those programs on either machine.

On the macbook go to Sytsem Preferences > Network > Advanced.

Click on WINS - you will see the name there.

It's not going to kill you, but there is probably a way to turn of WINS on the server.
