Soo I have upgraded my hard drive in my Macbeook Pro 13inch, Early 215 model to a 1Tb nvme ssd Samsung 970 pro plus.

Everything worked like a cham after installing the ssd.. However.. when I disconnect the power cable, my MacBook, completely shuts down and does not power on.

Before installing the ssd, my MacBook battery would last 8 hours without a power cable.

Anyone know where I ****ed up?

thanks

You said you had the Pro Plus but there's only Pro and Evo Plus, I think? If you're using a Sintech adapter like this one (https://www.amazon.ca/Sintech-Adapter-Upgrade-2013-2015-MacBook/dp/B01CWWAENG) then be aware that Samsung 970 Evo Plus SSD is specifically not supported.

Sorry yes I meant Evo Plus like this one (Samsung 970 EVO Plus 1 TB PCIe NVMe M.2 (2280) Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) (MZ-V7S1T0) https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07MBQP...abc_33RSY8RRFW01J51M0DBJ?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1)

Also that is the exact Sintech adapter I’m using.. I thought I chose the correct (long) instead of the known problematic one (short).

Since the one I bought is not compatible then which adapter would you recommend?

Ive already installed the ssd with this incorrect adapter and my MacBook is working fine with the power cable connected.. just hope it hasn’t caused too much damage :/

970 Pro looks like it would be fine but that page specifically says 970 Evo Plus doesn't work. Sorry!! The page lists compatible SSDs, I'd go with one of those. You don't need something as expensive as Samsung Pro speeds because I don't think the system would take advantage of it. I've been considering the same upgrade for my 2014 MBP 15" and would probably go with the less expensive Intel 660p or something.

Copy & Pasted SSDs from the listing:
  • Support Adata NVMe SSD : SX6000, SX7000, SX8200, SX8200 Pro etc,Corsair : MP500, MP510,Crucial : P1,HP: ex920, ex950
  • Support Intel NVMe SSD : 600p, 660p, 760p,Toshiba XG3-XG4-XG5-XG5p-XG6 line,Samsung: 960 Evo, 960 Pro, 970 Evo, 970 Pro,WD:v1, v2 and v3,MyDigital: SBX - BPX
  • NOT Support: Samsung 970 Evo Plus,PM981,950 Pro

I can’t see that list from the listing.. if you look at the picture, it says the Evo plus is supported however the user needs to install an updated firmware from Samsung. Also my MacBook has randomly started working again when I tried to unplug the charger.. spent all this time going crazy for a solution lol
