Can someone confirm that the MacBook motherboard DOES support Single Channel setup for RAM (ie mismatched RAM pairs say 256MB+1GB tot 1.25GB)

i would hope so. If i have to buy 2 gig sticks to get decent performance, i will eat my hat and get a MPB

It supports it i'm sure, but Apple reccomend that you match the sticks for optimal performance....

There are some benchmarks out of a 2.0 MB (512) vs. a 2.0 MBP (2 GB) and the results were almost the same. Not sure if the ram played a huge roll in that, but it seems that 1 GB would be enough to get some awesome performance out of these.
