I had an iBook and the speakers on those things sucked. I got a MacBook and since i didn't see those stupid circular speakers I thought that they totally revamped them on the MacBook and made them better. They still stuck! They aren't loud enough at all. If I have the TV on in the living room I can't hear anything on the computer that is sitting on my lap. Anyway, my question is, is there any hack or something outthere that would make the speakers louder? Thanks.

Get some headphones or some real speakers... The onboard ones are only useful for stupid little system sounds, etc.

Re-write the laws of physics, Bose does, so why not Apple. 😀

P.S. Bose do not, just they claim to by their advertising and sales tactics. Bose actually sucks monkey balls.

Can I use the JBL Creature II speakers with the MacBook?

why don't you guys try downloading this media player... it's not as cool as itunes but when it comes to watching movies or wanting your media louder...this will do the job. he max volume can go up to 400%!

try it out

I can verify that VLC can increase the macbooks volume significantly. If VLC can make things louder on my macbook, why is there not another way to boost the volume for all programs?

That really depends on the source. If the source is so quiet that it's 1/4th the volume that it should be, then that will help without problems. But the problem is that many sources are already maxed out. Some music already clips. Going louder is just going to make the clipping worse, and potentially harm the speakers.
