Macbook Starts, Then Stops

I'm able to start my MacBook, but then only the Apple icon
appears on the screen and that's it. If I leave it on for a while,
it automatically restarts. I've taken out the battery and put it back in,
but no dice.
I've never heard of anything like this.

Most likely, this is a hardware problem. The symptoms you describe are typical of a computer that is failing POST (Power On Self Test), and thus not booting properly.
