Macbook startup

Hi,
Just wanted to know if and when you guys start up the macbook each time is there like a noise coming from the hard drive???? Kind of like a beep but subtle. Just in general is that normal? I mean I know it's not suppose to be silent but a little whiring noise is ok.

I've heard the beep before, but you basically have to have your ear on the machine. Don't worry about it.
