My friend has a Macbook and cannot connect to a WEP wireless network. PC users in the same house have no problem and even myself on my trusty iBook G4 have no issue connecting to the network (though I am using leopard).

After clicking on the network, it requests the WEP password, entered password correctly and rebooted AND cleared any wireless from keychain... but then always displays the error:
"There was an error joining the AirPort network "<SSID>".

I checked for any updates using an ethernet connection but there weren't any.

The router is a D-link and claims Apple compatibility for tiger.

Any ideas?

Did you try adding "$" (without the "") before entering the key?

I suggest you use WPA if available as it is much more secure.
