    Hi,

I have just upgraded to the refreshed iMac from a 2006 MacBook but I am unsure which route to go down.

    1) Do I use the Migration Utility? I have never used this before so that will be something to learn.

    2) Restore iMac from my most recent back up? Is this even possible when back up was made on another mac? Is this a good route to go down and will it pull over stuff that I don't want (temp internet files and such things that bog down a computer)

    3) Any other options that are better or I am unaware of?

This is the first time that I am upgrading the actual computer and would appreciate any help.

    Thanks

    Thanks spinnerlys!

I wanted to go down the route that you have done by having a fresh machine with stuff that I want on there. Now I just need to find out how to delete backups off my time capsule once I have the iMac up and running and make a back up of that.

    Thanks again!

    Migration Assistant with Time Machine

I have a new imac and had parallels windows 7 preinstalled. If I use Migration Assistant with time machine to move all my stuff from old macbook to new imac, will the preintalled parallels be erased.
