clicking and whining

my mac ibook g4 started making a whining sound after i upgraded the hardrive. i had it replaced but it still does it. now i am getting a clicking noise when i use my trackpad. both are annoying to me and makes me wish for a new computer which won't happen since i just upgraded both RAM and HD. anyone found a solution?

ive worked it out

if this is something that pisses you off i know how to fix it ,kind of. all you have to do is hold the middle of the buttons on the trackpad down and push it left. then when the clicking starts again just repeat this process

just so you guys know, i've just ran into this problem with my macbook as well (early 08) and the press and slide left trick worked but it still comes back and is pissing me off. Can we really not fix this without a whole new top case????

Found a fix.

take the battery out make a slip of paper about half an inch wide and put some lubricant on it, preferably graphite, or silicate based. WD40 would work, but you may have to repeat this after a few months if you use it.

Figure out which side is making noise. Slip the paper in both directions all the while pressing the button up and down. Do this in different areas till the noise stops.

Seems to have been permanent for me. So far at least.
