I have a MacBook White 7,1 I don't know what year it is...I cannot get into it and the previous owner does not know the password...I have tried the start up disk and holding down the (C) key but it just goes to the log in screen....Is there anything I can do? Right now its just an expensive paper weight.....

I cannot get to disk utility to erase the drive....And reinstall a clean OS Snow Leopard.

Well does anyone have any idea how I can install Mountian Lion on this thing? I cannot get to the Disk Utility on the MacBook..Is there anyway to create a bootable jump drive and use that?

Won't work..Cannot get into it to get to Utilities thanks anyway...Oh well I needed a bigger paper weight anyway...

Are you saying it won't boot to Recovery, or that it will boot to Recovery but no Utilities in Recovery?

Won't do either...I tried to partition a jump drive but cannot partition a jump drive at least not on my iMac 21 anyway. It goes right to the log in screen... The dock is not there and neither is the menu at the top with file/edit/view etc...

Someone yesterday was posting how he put a new ssd in a MacBook likes your, they are running high sierra

Wish it were than easy..How do I do that when I cannot get to Disk Utility....

Make a bootable USB installer on your iMac and boot from it on the MBP. Booting from a USB installer is like booting from Recovery....has all the Utilities including Disk Utility.

Thanks but I am just going to replace the blasted hard drive in it. Cheaper than going out and buying a new computer...Only problem is I don't know what size to get.
