Please can someone help my MacBook Pro when on Internet loads up a duplicate window of what I am on, then the original which was running turns into a pop up like page with ads.

Or my internet page has ads listed at the top side and bottom that won't let me get rid of them.

How do I get rid of this? Have I a virus? I have taken a picture but can't upload on here?

Hi Boyd -- upload the image to imgur.com, then link it within your post.

It's very possible that you have picked up some adware, and your symptoms are really about adware, I think.
Download Malwarebytes and run a scan on your Mac. Only takes a few seconds for the scan, and it will report what it finds, and remove it for you, too! (and it's free...)

YOu likely unknowingly installed adware/malware, probably bundles with something else you installed.

What year, what size MBP? What version of OS X are you running? On what browser are you experiencing this?

Find out from your Apple menu/About this Mac. That information window will tell us most everything.

Be sure to try out the Malwarebytes, too. That may take care of your issue quickly.

i have just done the malwarebytes and it seems to of sorted it, thanks very much for your help people. is this malwarebytes ok left installed on my macbook?

Yes, if adware finds you once, it may happen again. The Malwarebytes software will update itself each time you use it.
I like to run a scan once a month or so. It does very little between scans, and certainly no harm in leaving it on your Mac.

Thanks very much for your help, I've had my MacBook for a year now and very bad at knowing what to do with it. I've got my iTunes library in order. But my photos are a mess and need sorted am thinking about doing the £75 for the year 'training' in stormfront - do you think it would be worth doing?

Also do you know of a MacBook Pro sleeve/case that is a perfect fit? I've just bought a goji one from currys but it's not as fitted as I had hoped
