MACBOOK VISTA Photos

Interesting that you state it's slow, I've used every build since Beta 1 back a year ago and it is definitely faster than XP for me since all the UI work is done by the graphics card.
 
yeah, for me it's not slow, just annoying, especially prompting you to say it's ok to do practically anything.

Well you could turn that off as I have. One thing that bugs me is that you have to manually reconnect to the WiFi every time you log in. Bah
 
it automatically connects for me, though i have two wireless networks, one completely open but secured from the rest of the network, just has an internet connection and is set for 802.11b users, the other is 802.11g and completely secure but has access to things like my xbox 360 and other computers.

? I got it to do that. You just have to navigate it's very confusing network setup and you can get it to automatically join. The networking is really badly layed out.

I should have basically changed slow to cumbersome. Thats more like it.
 
I'm sure all these negative post are due to the Mac bias🙄 . I've search some more Microsoft friend sites, and the beta users are loving it.
 
Back in the states, I have a Pentium 233MMX with Windows98SE on it. Fully pimped out, max ram, big drive, Voodoo2 etc. I use it for legacy games. I think of how little functionality has been added to windows since then, and it makes me laugh. Where as MacOS has improved VASTLY from say 8 to 10.

I think it's great we can load windows now, is there any reason to bother with Vista? Does it add anything useful?

🙄 Its nothing to do with Mac bias. If I had a bias I wouldn;t sit there and install it, destroy my EFI partition and get it working would I.

And what a surprise = people on a Microsoft Friend Sites
are loving it? You want to talk about BIAS.

How many of those friends have experience OS X at all?
If they had had a better os since 2000/01 then seeing what M$ has finally brought to the table, a four year old meal surved on new plates, I'm sure it would turn their stomachs too. 🙂
 
Hell, it looks incredibly better on a Mac than XP does, so it's all good. Windows XP on a Mac just looks so incredibly out of place. At least the design of Vista is a little more fitting of such beautiful hardware.

There is definitely bias, look at all the people who say it's nothing more than XP with a new theme. That's like saying Panther is just Jaguar. It's simply wrong.
 
So how about some of the older Windows apps that haven't seen a facelift in eons? Has MSPaint been updated at all?
 
For the complaints of speed, this is definately normal for a Beta version of any operating system. There is lots of extra coding in there right now running in the background that is using resources. Part of the next 8 months or so will include fixing bugs, and in turn, getting rid of the bloatedness that is keeping the OS from falling apart from now. Simplifying code etc....hopefully by RC1, we should see a speed difference once it's cleaned up and optimized.

Remember it is still a beta. It is not perfect (for Windows) yet.
 
From what I've seen it is, at the least, attractive. Don't think I'm going to waste time setting up the beta, though.

Thanks for showing it could be done. I know a lot of people didn't believe the MacBook was capable of running Aero.

Didnt bother installing much except office 2007 which wouldnt go in?
Aero does work with the integrated gpu, and 224mb Ram was alocated to the GMA950 - not the 64mb that everyone thought was locked.

That seems to only apply to OS X in which case it's probably not firmware but software locked in OS X.

Does the integrated graphics card in the MacBook support DirectX 9.0?
 
What I'm really interested in, is why your enter/return key is different from my Macbook 😛

The one in the picture seems to have this narrow (vertical positioned) return key, while the ones I've seen elsewhere, are all in the standard keyboard shape (just a thin rectangle).

UK keyboard, innit? Check out the £ sign over the number three key where US keyboards have #.
