I've finally found something that irks me about my macbook.

The webcam points out at a 90 degree angle from the top of the display. This means i have to tilt the lid unnaturally forward to be positioned correctly in the image, and need to view the display from a bad angle which isn't as clear and bright.

I wish there was a way to angle the camera down a little bit.
 
Maybe lower your chair or raise your desk? Or get one of those iStand thingies. As far as on your lap, that's no help, probably...

I always thought that was strange, myself, that there was no tilt feature. Ah well.
