Macbook woes

My stepbrother is getting a macbook tomorrow and I'm off to help for "quality control" Basically to help buy and what-not.

Basically we need a sure fire test to make sure it runs perfectly and that there will be no kinks in future. I was thinking of doing the RSS test in unix to max out the processors for some reason.. Any other ideas?

Also, his mom's on a tight budget so he's probably goanna get base. Is there any way to convice her to buy him the second model? She's not a technologically inclined person so all she sees is the exact same computer, only more expensive.

That's basically true. I can only say recommend the mid-level white if he needs to burn DVD's. Else there is not that big a difference.

base config is fine, but you'll want to get the ram up to 1 gb
