MacBook won't install 10.5.2 update

Every time I try to update to 10.5.2 update on my C2D MacBook the status window hangs on the "Configuring Installation". I've tried multiple times with no avail. I also tried verifying/repairing persmissions, but that didn't work either. Any ideas? I'm not entirely against doing a reformat, I've been thinking about doing one to get rid of the junk I don't need. However, if it can be avoided, thats great.

If you are trying to install the update through software update and it is giving you problems, then I would advise you to install it from the combo update from the apple site. Here is the link: http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/macosx_updates/macosx1052comboupdate.html.

If that does not work try this maintenance app: http://santasw.com/ Very easy to use and does not harm your system. But I will still advise to backup. Then try installing the update again.

Same thing here...

The same thing is happening with my macbookpro. I just started to download the combo from apple, but seeing it's 340 MB size, kinda put me down.... Because, theoretically, my computer already downloaded all of this, but.... Anyways, what is it that might be causing this? Is it a system error or something? I just recently cleaned up my MBP, so everything ought to be just fine. Hope the combo works, but I'd really like to understand this more.

Phenixbleu, what are your tips on using the MainMenu software? The site doesn't offer too much light. At least I didn't find any...

I use Mainmenu daily and tested its power and never had a problem with it. It does not harm your system in anyway, but provided the best solution for cleaning your system with a few clicks.
