So my MacBook (2015) was fine yesterday, I closed the lid as I normally do, and today it won't turn on. I plugged it in thinking the battery might've died and it still wouldn't turn on. I gave up trying to figure it out, but now it's warm (98-99 degrees) even though it's been sitting there unplugged for hours. The hard drive is definitely not running, I can't hear anything when I put my ear to it. What's going on?!

I'm going to the Apple Store tomorrow, but I'm just curious at what it could possibly be. I've only had the MacBook for two months now (refurbished, purchased from Apple).

if this is a 2015 macbook pro

first the hard drive wont make any noise since it is solid state (SSD) instead of older generation spinning disk hard drive.

second for some reason (software mostly) the system might not shutdown correctly when the lid is closed, then the laptop is put inside a bag/cramped space while still working.

third is this clean install or transfer from previous macbook ? fresh install is always more consistent and less prone to certain problems. There has been report of this happening to 2016 macbook pro transferring from old laptop instead of fresh install.

yes bring back to Apple store and let them get this sorted, opt for fresh install even if it more troublesome and always have whole data backup before reinstall.

Just to be sure, press the increase brightness function key on the off chance the brightness has been become turned all the way down.

I have the same problem.
Was this resolved, and if so, what was the cause?
