You're not correct. https://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2018/11/apple-t2-chip-cant-boot-linux
Windows via Bootcamp does not work at the moment. It says there is no support software available on the server so the install fails. I assume there are no drivers yet. Hopefully it'll be fixed soon.
you're not correct. at the moment you can boot linux and install it on an external disk but not natively on the internal ssd and that was the question about.
Boot camp feels like abandonware at this point. All sorts of pitfalls trying to get it installed and working properly. Parallels is quite good, and probably the best option for most use cases.
It was the same thing in 2018. The drivers came out like 2 days after the MBPs started shipping.
You won’t be able to. The Bootcamp assistant will tell you it can’t find the drivers and will stop right there. No partitioning, no change in the windows unattended installation file, and to UEFI drivers.
The only way to do it now without Bootcamp’s help (I did it when I wanted to install Windows Server in Bootcamp) is to manually create the windows partition in disk utility, get the UEFI drivers, edit the WinPE drivers that are loaded and with a bit of luck you’ll get there. The most important one is the SSD driver.
Easier temporary way is to install Windows on an external drive, that should work without Bootcamp.
Apple doesn’t really need it anymore. Back when it was introduced, the Mac was still the company’s primary source of revenue.Boot camp feels like abandonware at this point. What do you mean ? Of course they run Windows natively. They’ve always have since the first MBP with an Intel chip back in 2006. They just need drivers like every other laptop in the world.Hold up here. Since 2018 MBP's won't run Windows natively ??? 😨 Was not aware of this. This requires some thought and analysis before any upcoming purchase.

They will. They just don’t at the moment because the drivers aren’t available yet, but by end of next week this won’t be an issue at all. You’ll be able to run both from the internal or an external drive (provided you allow external boot from the System utility).Sorry. Poor choice of words. By natively I meant they won't run it from the built in drive? You need to use an external drive?
Thanks. Crisis averted 😅They will. They just don’t at the moment because the drivers aren’t available yet, but by end of next week this won’t be an issue at all. You’ll be able to run both from the internal or an external drive (provided you allow external boot from the System utility).
