MacBook Pro 15-inch 2010 vs 2011 (which to buy)

Honestly if the 2010 model does everything that you need it to, then there is no reason to upgrade.

Plus, there are many things that the money you saved could go towards to compliment the purchase - mainly an external hard drive and pocket the rest.

No need to spread yourself thin and get the upgrade when you don't even need it, really.

Thanks - but I am actually not upgrading.
I do not have a laptop (only a G5 desktop) - I need to purchase a laptop asap - and I would like the 15" MacBook Pro - I was looking at the 2.0GHz model.

Since I have read so many bad reviews about 2011 models (as per my post above - #24), I wonder if I should rather purchase the 2010 model - 2.66 GHz (price is approx. the same).
I understand the 2010 model is less powerful, but it may have fewer issues?

I am very confused. Any insights would be appreciated.
Thanks -

I wouldn't read so much into your Google searches – people post issues about every single update. There's plenty of MBP users without problems out there.

Thanks - I just saw your post.
Good thought, but it does not really answer my question - 2010 vs 2011.

Hi there,

May I ask where in Canada you purchased your Macbook Pro? That is SUPER cheap and I'm from the US but for that I would be willing to drive over...

Thanks!
