Are you looking for a bare drive, or an enclosure and drive?

My $.02 is you may be hard pressed to find any drive/enclosure at that price point. A bare drive will be probably be tiny, unless you buy it used.

So you are looking for an external optical drive? Any will do. They all inevitably will break. All will work with OSX. Yes a samsung is a good bet.

My past experience with toshiba drives were always negative. I had my toshiba optical drive replaced 3 times within a year for failure...

I'm not saying apples optical drive price is any better.. But after my experience. I won't go back to toshiba
