Macintosh HD almost full WHY?

Whats best to use as backup DVDs or a External Hard drive?
I just deleted both folders btw..

I would do external HDD must faster and easier! Just backup your files stick the Restore DVD in and turn on your mac hold down "C" to load from the CD hit the Blue arrow and go to the top where you see "Utilities" then "Disk Utility" select your HDD click "Erase Tab" and then make sure Mac OS X Extended Journaled is selected then "Erase". Exit the Disk Utility and proceed to reinstall the OS

I agree on the wipe your hard drive.

external by far, one click to back up and one click to re install everything

I just deleted the folders
Disk capacity is now at 55GB phew , finally

Yes i installed it a few months back and deleted it the same day......i guess it was taking snapshots at 550kb a piece this whole time and i had thought it was gone
