This is my first post. After many years as a pc user I recently purchased a MacBook Pro. I am very happy so far with the MacBook Pro. I have using Mac Mail and have been very happy with it. I bought the MacBook in mid June before the Lion operating system was rolled out. One feature in Mac Mail that I was not happy with was how it would immediately mark mail as "Read" when you previewed the mail. I found an app called True Preview that allowed me to set a time delay before the mail was changed to "Read". True Preview does not work with the latest software upgrades. I have been unable to find an upgrade for True Preview or another version of a work around. Is there something I can do other than go back and mark these previewed emails and "Unread"? I know this is a rookie question but any help will be appreciated.

You can just press shift + command + U to mark it as unread. I see you don't want to do that but I don't know of any other built in way that would set a delay. Personally, I like it that it marks it as read right away. If I need to go back to it, I just flag it.

Since your old application doesn't work, try Mail Act-On. It beefs up the rules you can use with Mail, and even has a "preview, don't read" function…probably with you in mind ;) Works with Lion.

Thank you. Mail Act-on looks like it will do what I need.
