You're right. Neither MS nor Apple support Windows running on the Macs. My question is, who does one turn to if something does happen to go awry?

So... all of us running XP and OSX on our Macs should just delete XP? ...no thanks.

Why all the hubbub anyway? I bought a Mac and installed XP myself. If somebody else does it for me, who cares. You guys are acting like installing XP on a Mac is news. Many people do it, and in fact Apple themselves released Boot Camp. That certainly sounds like some level of support to me.

Some of us need Windows (for IE, for games, for office apps)

As for MS, They would not support it because it has nothing to do with legal licensing. Its the issue of virtualizaton. if something goes ary, they will just blame Boot Camp or Parallel or whatever else. If it does not run natively then they can't help you.

Boot Camp is not virtualization, it simply allows you to choose which OS to start. Intel Macs meet the minimum specs, there's no reason why MS wouldn't support it.

Knock one back and pray for miracle.

Thats where the entrepeneurial concept and American ingenuity come into play in the form of the independent contractor (better known as a computer guy). --- You know, some kid that knows more about it than you do.

Grey Matter...

No one is saying not to run windows on a Mac, just recognize that, should an issue arise it is not on the onus of Apple nor Microsoft to support you. All Apple can say is that it should and does work and that is all.

As for Microsoft, their response will be no comment. Now, back in April when I posted my original comment I called Microsoft and that was the answer I got. Things may have changed since then but I doubt it. But if you really want to know call them yourself...
