My old Mini A1176 which I wanted to upgrade (see my other thread) has problems with wifi, it's in the same room as the router but the wifi search goes over and over but no device shows up, it used to work but now it doesn't any longer, any known issue with MacMini and AirPort?

It might have been something gone wrong when the ex owner had the optical drive replaced, they might have not installed the airport card correctly something with the antennas, do you have any suggestion before I go ahead and open it?

thank you

I can think of 4 different possibilities of why...

1. Antennas were detached and/or broken when installing the new CDROM drive - replacing antennas will cost $5 off ebay but could be a free fix if just detached.
2. The Airport card was dislodged from the Mini-PCIE port and needs to be reseated - Free
3. The Airport card went bad. It can happen.... About $20 on ebay
4. The PCIE port on the logic board went bad - Pricey. Just go USB Wifi and save yourself the money.
