MacMini (Late 2012) Freezing

Since a few days, my MacMini freezes some time after booting it up. It shows a weird rectangle pattern distortion on the screen, and after a few seconds reboots. Any thoughts what might be the issue? My guess are thermo-related issues, so I went to switch on the fan full-blast (5500 rpm) using smcFanControl, but even that didn’t help.

Have you tried running Apple Diagnostics (hold down D on boot)?

@mdgm : Thanks for the hint. Yeah, I tried that. However, I'm getting the good old “Cannot Load EFII/Drivers/TestSupport.efi” (both when trying holding down D, and when trying to boot from a AHT USB stick, as described here: https://github.com/upekkha/AppleHardwareTest)

What about if you hold Alt+D on boot?

Have you tried using another video port ?

If you are using HDMI, try the Thunderbolt port.
