I've noted that the MacMini sound output is low in gain. I have to turn up the volume on my peripherals to hear decent sound volumes.

Anyone else noted the same?

I'm using analog cables to connect the headphone output to my powered speakers.

I'm thinking of trying digital optical cables next.

Same problem here, .. haven't tried moving to digital cables.

I have to crank my TV volume up a lot to hear the mini. Really sucks when I forget to turn the volume down before turning the TV back over to satellite. :)

Ok. So it's not a one off. I'm wondering if the dual nature of that output connector has something to do with the very low gain for analog connections?

Hi there.

This is just an observation, but it may be of interest/use.

I noticed that the overall volume on my Mac Mini seems
to be less than my old G4. Also, whenever it's shut down
and restarted, I always, but always, have to adjust the
volume control to rock 'n' roll LOUD!

As I said, just an observation - hope it helps.

Good luck!

Best,

JMcE.
