Dear Members, I'm desperately craving for help. I have several problems with my new Mac mini what I recently bought. We are a Pro Post-Audio production house. Already called apple and of course no help.

1. Problem

The main problem is my audio. It lags and disconnects. Basically after a couple of hours of running my mac mini (sometimes not always) when I changing application, window or doing something which effects-heavy UX moving audio and picture start to lag and audio disappears for 1 sec. This is not the typical MacMini audio glitch what I have seen on youtube. (restart can solve it but it's not normal for sure) It affects every single application what makes a sound. I use USB RME babyface which is perfectly working, no problem with my older macs with this interface. You can imagine what beautiful is when 5 clients sit behind me and ProTools stops during recording.

- I suspected the 4K Thunderbolt 3 monitor, so I tried to disconnect and connected my older 2K via HDMI. Same problem.
- PRam reseted
- OSX reinstalled (not clean install)

2. Problem

Sometimes if I quit an application I can't start it again until I restart the whole system. For example protools. It usually happens if I let my mac running during the night (sometimes I need to do things remotely) and when I returned to the studio continue to work. So long-running periods.

3. Problem

OWC Envoy Pro EX Thunderbolt 3 SSD 1TB (OWCTB3ENVP10) keeps disconnect. The only way I can using it now is daisy chain trough my Lacie Disk which has external power. I expected to use as a main working SSD directly connect to my mac. Obviously it can be as fast trough the Lacie as trough the Mac mini.

I need your help guys. I have a bunch of console logs but I can't read these pieces of information.

Some thoughts...

Did you change the original RAM for 3rd-party replacement RAM?
If so, put the factory RAM back in, and see if that changes anything.

Which USB port are you using for the RME?
- USBc
or
- USBa
???

If you're using USBc, try changing to the a port.
If you're using USBa, try changing to the c port.

You might also check the forums at gearslutz.com, very knowledgeable audio folks there.

I did :/ Thats what I'm afraid about ...grr originally was 8 and I upgraded it to 64 Samsung from a german company

I just ordered the USB thunderbolt 3 to TB2 adapter because I have a TB 2 interface. I will try it.

Can I test the new RAM somehow if it works properly without put my older rams back?

"I just ordered the USB thunderbolt 3 to TB2 adapter because I have a TB 2 interface. I will try it."

You said the audio interface was USB, that's correct...?

If so, the thunderbolt adapter ISN'T GOING TO WORK, because it's for thunderbolt, NOT USB.

If the RME interface has a USBa port, what you need is a USBa-to-USBc cable.
That's it.

I have 2 Interface
RME babyface USB 2.0 (currently using)
RME Fireface UFX+ TB2 (I bought the cable for this interface)

But you say that if I'm purchasing an USB A to TB3 adapter that could be a solution for my babyface as well?

"could be a solution for my babyface as well?"

I don't know the answer.
I offered it as "something to try".

You should really check RME’s website for a firmware update for the interfaces and double check that the FireFace will support a Thunderbolt 3<—>Thunderbolt 2 configuration.

Also, check to make sure there is not an updated driver for each of those interfaces.

Are you sure the version of Pro Tools you are using is approved to work on Mojave 10.14.6?

Checking DRAM requires you to put in the old DRAM and see if the behavior goes away or not. Samsung is quality DRAM, but stuff happens. At least if you try the original 8G of DRAM and things work, you know you most likely have an issue with one of those Samsung sticks.

Also, before you do all that, turn off Bluetooth, connect up a wired keyboard and mouse and after verifying that your RME and ProTools are fully updated and validated, they running them again with Bluetooth OFF, Wi-Fi too, if that is possible. That may fix your Envoy disconnect issues as well.

Good luck!
