I’ve mentioned before, I wish i could manually control when my iPhone, iPad, MacBook Pro charges.
why not just coying Tesla - i mean apple is a zero innovation company - so please just copy Tesla battery management. I ... I ... I set the charging level - i almost never need a fully charged phone - 80 percent is more than enough on my 11

This is a step forward, but why can't Apple offer THREE options for us?

Option 1 - Traditional Charge battery to 100% when plugged in.
Option 2 - Smart battery charging. All this software magic to make a best guess about when to charge to 100% with increasingly complex algorithms (probably best for most people)
Option 3 - LET ME PICK. I want to tell my Mac to charge to 80% and then stay there unless I disable this option. I know when I need to have 100% charge and when I don't. Honestly how hard would it be to just let ME decide? If I want to turn over flying to the autopilot, I'll set it to option 2.

Please Apple offer Option 3.

AirPods Pro do the same thing. At first I thought there was something wrong with them, but I eventually figured it out. Particularly great on these devices with small batteries that can’t be easily changed (if at all).

you know who usually doesn't need a FULL charged battery right before a meeting (that will likely last an hour at most) - people who are plugged in. what you need is a message for people like my old boss who used to sit at Starbucks, writing emails until 5 min before they need to leave, and THEN realize their Mac was on 10% battery for his conference room power point. maybe have a warning an hour before or 30 min before to remind Non-plugged in devices "hey, that meeting is in a half hour, charge now, so its ready to go" like the Apple Watch does before bed.

Yeah, how about set max charge state manually? I've set mine to 90% on my XPS... because full charging is just unnecessar stress on the battery and a charge level of 65% is the level at which the battery retains mx capacity best.
On the phone I would also like to disable quickcharge. i.e. limit charge current to 750mA... because why fast charge overnight? Pointless.

Also, actually display the battery of at least all my Apple devices in the battery widget! I've like 5 Apple devices with batteries. Why is the iPhone only displaying my Watch? Can't display my other iDevices. Pathetic. Would make sense to also display the battery state of the Tesla. It's not like there's an app that could supply the info via an API...

Smart charge do charge to 80% and in the battery drop down menu you can choose to top up to 100% at will, you already have option 3 with option 2.

As long as it works with MS Office and Outlook/Teams meetings. I can't see my company leaving the Microsoft ecosystem, ever.

Should work fine as long as you've set up your Microsoft Exchange account in your Mac's Internet Accounts.

Maybe Apple should first ensure that the calendar updates across devices so that I don’t have to accept and delete the same meeting on the iPhone and iPad over and over?

How about it just charges as much and as fast as possible when I plug it in?
That would be a super-charger.

I always wonderd what that reason why Apple never does it on laptops, yet they fast charge only on iOS.
Ugh, no. I want to use the "sorry, battery running out" excuse to cut meetings short.

Time for Siri to speak up..

Its used for everything else, right? May as well make it useful now, since Apple has issues with expanding in general.

Wait let me try this....Ahem " Der you mean like when you connect it to a charger? Hardy Har Har..."
Nope, like you can do on thinkpads - keep the charger connected but don't charge above a certain percentage - I keep mine at 80. I only tell it to charge to 100 when I'll be away from an outlet for a really long time.

If optimized charging helps extend these non user replaceable (easily) batteries then I’m all for it. My Apple devices often have battery issues long before I want to upgrade. Especially MacBooks. I believe it will do a slow/optimized charge based on your usage patterns.

Why should I care about the charging? Is there any difficulty to manage charging well at hardware level?

If you want to disable quick charge, just use a lower watt charger for the night.

Is that '100% three hours before a meeting'-algorithm the reason why it keeps charging to 100% for me? Because I have a lot of entries in my calender?
My Big Sur macbook pro 16" 2019 keeps charging to a 100% every time I start charging and I really don't want it to! I really wish the OPTIMIZED option to halt the charging at 80% to work.
