I never liked the location themes, I preferred when OS X used space / universe themed wallpapers like Leopard–Mountain Lion.

That being said, while I dont like the wallpaper in itself that much, it compliments the direction of the OS Aesthetic ..

I kinda miss the wallpaper being the landmark location of the name.
Although this brings it very inline with iOS.

Maybe the landscape wallpaper will be an option in the beta/future release
The Big Sur dynamic wallpaper is still there.

It’s very nice and saturated. It looks like it’ll get really yellow too

FYI my wallpaper in that photo is the official macOS Big Sur wallpaper

I can’t get the colourful abstract dynamic wallpaper to appear, it just shows me the old Catalina one, but the new Big Sur one works

I'm on Mojave and in System Preferences it shows the Mojave but on the actual desktop is Big Sur.

I can only get Catalina to appear too. I can't get the new "macOS" one to appear. It just keeps going back to Catalina. Must be a bug in Beta 1...

Yeah, it’s stated in the release notes, you should have changed it before upgrading. I should’ve changed it before upgrading!!

After having the same issue, I managed to get mine to the new abstract background by manually going to the Desktop Pictures folder in Finder, right clicking and setting it as the desktop photo that way. I made sure my previous dynamic background was set to “Dynamic” instead of day or night still. Hopefully in the morning it’ll change to the daytime version... We’ll see!

Sorry, I'm a bit confused - that first image linked should be higher res for retina displays, shouldn't it? Or is the high res image in the heic files?

Hey, could you tell me where you found the "Desktop Pictures" folder? I'm not able to find it in Finder. I know it was normally saved in "/Library/Desktop Pictures/".

Odd that you can’t find it - here’s the hierarchy for me...

I have been tiling this image since 10.1 (about 19 years) and it does me as it has no distractions and nothing to get in the way of my desktop icons.

The path is /System/Library/Desktop Pictures

Also if anyone wants the original HEIC images - which have the day and night versions, you can get them from my OneDrive here:

D'oh!

it’s already there, someone just shared that HEIC file here.

Yeah, for some reason on Mojave custom dynamic wallpapers always show the thumbnail for the default Mojave Wallpaper, but when you set it you do get the actual wallpaper. Catalina does update the thumbnails.
