Apple Maps 3.0 on macOS 12.0.1 load very slow (takes 3-4 Sec), doesn't matter which mode, have a very good internet speed. Using MBP 2020 intel. anyone else facing this issue?

Update:  fixed it in the macOS 12.2, it's much snappier in the satellite view.

I also have this issue and reported it. I have a fast internet connection wired to my 2020 5K iMac 8c 5500XT and its not just the slow loading time, but also the stutter when scrolling. Such a bad experience since i had no issues on Big Sur and everything was smooth.

I think Maps underwent major changes this update. It will probably improve for you both as Monterey updates get released.

Not sure if it is model specific but I have a 13" MBP with Monterey and it is snappy. 2019 MBP 16" is not. I also have a 2016 that I haven't upgraded but will also test. As a side note - google maps (via browser) on 2019 MBP is also "snappy".

Upgraded MBP 2016 13" - no problems (no slow down) with Apple Maps. So, either 2019 16" specific or something in the upgrade process has been corrupted. No guess on how to track that down.

I have the exact same experience over here (MBP 16"). It's really a bad experience, stuttering when panning and very slow in downloading (no matter what mode).
I'm glad that I'm not alone.
Takes forever to load & stutters...never faced this issue in previous versions of OS

As a follow up - I reformatted and installed macOS Monterey on 16" 2019 MacBook Pro. Still has the poor performance on Apple Maps - most notable in satellite mode. scrolling or zooming is very slow to redraw grids to make it in my opinion not useable when you can use google maps or bing maps with no noticeable redraw/response issue. 2021 MacBook Pro (M1Max), 2017 and 2016 13" MacBook Pros show no similar issues.

seems to be model specific...

same poor performance on my MacBook Pro 16
Also in Safari in full screen mode, the favourites column on the right side is sometime flickering with a frequency of about 0,25 hz.
It seems that the graphics card of those machines is badly supported in Monterey.

I would be very disappointed if Apple stops supporting these almost brand new machines.

This is clearly a data issue because I'm using Maps on Wi-Fi with my iPhone 13 mini running iOS 15.1, and I'm getting sluggish load times as well.

Googling "Apple Maps slow 2021" brings up results on different forums regarding this.

What do you mean "data issue". It is clearly NOT the internet or server performance of Apple.
I tried maps simultaneously on an M1 Air and my Intel MacBook Pro 16.
The Air was performing great the Pro had issues.

maps runs great on new MacBook Air M1. And is very sluggish on MacBook Pro 32mb 2019 intel 9. Is this part of apple pushing everyone to upgrade MacBooks?

Update to MacOS 12.1: no improvement.
Maps running on my MacBook Pro 13 early 2015 is much faster than on my MacBook Pro 16 (2020).
Too bad that this new machine is neglected.

Same here:
2019 16" MBP w. i9/32GB/1TB/Radeon5500M-8GB: Unusable slow Maps (esp. in Satellite mode)
2015 13" MBP w. i5/8GB/254GB/built-in gfx: Normal performance (no different compared to Big Sur).
2021 13" MBA w. M1/8GB/1TB: super fast, no issue at all.

I am surprised that on the early 2015 13" intel MBP everything is OK as well (I more or less assumed the problems were "intel" related). Somehow my 16" MBP (just a year old) is really struggling with Maps (and at times with Safari as well).

Had high hopes Apple would have addressed this issue with the Monterey 12.1 release but that wasn't the case. Same sluggish behaviour .... :(

I am unable to use Apple Maps on my 2018 mac mini. It is simply too slow making it unusable. Everytime I move the map, it takes about 20 seconds to redraw. I'm using Google Maps. I did a clean Mojave install and upgraded to Monterey.

Also on a MacBook Pro 16" Intel. I guess I'll report it, though with the issue persisting for months it looks like one of those Apple will either leave for the next major OS version or just never fix. They want everyone to buy new M1s. Kind of a strange bug to imagine being accidental.
