New Features & Changes
Resolved Issues
New Issues

  • Location Services (Settings > Privacy) is broken (see thread). App permissions to access location cannot be added or removed. Existing apps that were configured prior to upgrade should still work ok.
    • Workaround: Disable SIP / boot into recovery mode and hand-edit SQLite database. This "workaround" is not recommended!
Remaining Issues
Untested Issues

  • QuickTime Player does not record the first couple of seconds when you use a Microphone (FB10086556)
    • Workaround: Wait around 5 seconds after seeing the yellow indicator in the Menu Bar, or use a different app for your recording needs
    • Issue present since macOS 10.13
  • Alarms may not play when your display is asleep for a long period of time (FB10086690)
    • Workaround: Make your display not fall asleep in Settings > Lock Screen > Turn display off on ____ when inactive. You can turn your brightness off.
    • Issue present since macOS 13.0
Additional Notes
  • Please know, Memory Management has always been an issue on any OS (not just Apple's). If you believe there is a Memory Leak, please go to the Apple Menu > Restart > Restart to fix it.
  • When a new macOS release comes out, all issues automatically go to "Untested Issues" until they are moved by someone. Issues that stay in Untested for 3 releases (beta or smooth) will be removed from all future threads. When there is a new macOS release, please be sure to let us know about the issue's status by moving it to either "Remaining Issues" or "Resolved Issues"
  • macOS Ventura Preview

Apps no longer show up under Location Services under Privacy and Security.

Can't edit location permissions now or see what apps have location access.

That's really interesting because Sonoma can do this just fine...

Maybe its a bug and Apple will release a 13.5.1 to address it?

Seems to work more or less OK on my 2017 13 inch MBP no touch bar. Fans went crazy during/after the install for a while. Seems to have calmed down after being left plugged in for a while.

Count me as another one who can no longer access or edit Location Services permissions... Ugh.

M1 Mac Mini

I cannot put anymore my Mac to sleep. The only solution is to shut it down. Some system processes show now under Activity Monitor as preventing sleep but they are vital for the system to run (therefore cannot be killed).

Hi All,

I just bought a 2023 Mac Mini M2 Pro, and updated it to MacOS 13.5. I am setting up my software, and it seems like many apps are not recognized in the Login Items, even when selected and the notification says it has been added. Amphetamine does not launch. Hand Mirror does not launch. The only apps that show up in the Open At login section are Command X and PopClip.

Anybody else seeing similar behavior?

I had a similar issue setting up a new MacStudio M2. I think it's System Settings that has some bugs
It takes a while to learn you want a specific app to load at login, beside other prefs. I restarted several times and insisted and put the apps back and now -crossing fingers- it works but I didn't update to 13.5 because of the Locations bug .
What I did to help at the beginning,
it was to create a folder on the desktop with all the apps aliases that didn't log in.
Easy and less frustrating to launch the alias when needed.
But as I wrote now it works, Amphetamine included . Hope it does for you too.

Before MacOS version 13.5 I followed these instructions to configure my computer to permit more "max opened files" because I wasn't able to open 150+ SSH connections using ZOC8 SSH client at the same time without that setting:

After upgrading to MacOS 13.5 possible because of MacOS System Integrity Protection the "max opened files" returned to the default value and the same issue is described here:

very little feedback - has this been a good release so far?

considering upgrading from 13.3 on M1 Air
