Inspired by @Pearsey post for iOS17 i decided to open this thread to discuss about the applications which are working or not in macOS 14 Sonoma.


This is a Wiki Thread for the latest updates.

Please simply click on "EDIT" at the bottom of this post to make changes to the App list.

Use the default text example to copy and paste, then, add the Apps name.

Broken in Developer Beta 1:

  • Audio Hijack - v4.2.0
  • CrossOver 22.1.1 (Workaround provided in Post #75)
  • Fantastical (Exchange/MS365 Sync broken)works again with beta https://flexibits.com/fantastical/beta
  • FOLX - Video files get corrupted
  • Lickable Menu Bar v1.2.2
  • Little Snitch - V 5.6 - fixed in 5.7 nightly build
  • PopChar - V 9.5 - Working in Beta 3
  • QuarkXPress 19.1 (2023) App hangs often, even when idling.
  • Reunion
  • SABnzbd 4.02 (All versions)

  • SoundSource - (Requires a beta released later)
    • All Rogue Amoeba tools using ACE are disabled and awaiting a beta release

    • Mail no longer supports plugins. SpamSieve needs to use extensions.
    • M. Tsai has been working on a rewrite and expects a beta this summer.
  • TechTool Monitor - V 17.0.2 - Working in Beta 4
  • All Topaz Lab. Photo Apps. - Wont Open, dialog box says App is damaged.
  • Xcode - v14.3.1 (Need to update to the Xcode 15 beta)
  • Yubico Authenticator - v6.2.01 - Crashes at start
Broken in Developer Beta 2:
  • Maccy 0.26.4 - prevents most keyboard function
  • Bartender 4 works but activates permanently "Screen Sharing" icon in the menu bar
  • NeatAir - Menu bar air quality app prevents keyboard function, must be quit.
Broken in Developer Beta 3:

  • Affinity Publisher (2.1.1) (crashes if any other app is made the active window) (Fixed in 2.2.0.1925, currently in beta)
  • App Cleaner & Uninstaller (software indicates Sonoma compatible update this fall)
  • MacMediaKeyForwarder 3.1.2 (Asks for automation and accessibility permissions and then quits, 3.1.1 still works)

Broken in Developer Beta 5:
  • Apple Compressor 4.6.5 - crashes on launch, tested on M2 Ultra and M1 Max
  • iDrive 3.5.10.61 - Fixed! (16august23)
Broken in Sonoma RC1 (Build 23A339):
  • Arq 7.24 (Client won't connect to Arq Agent) (working for at least one user)
  • DEVONthink 3.92 (Menus unresponsive)

If anyone can test out some Jetbrains products, that would be great. Otherwise, I'll set up a VM and try there.

I posted in the wiki post #1 about not having issues with Excel or Outlook. So far only apps not working for me are PopChar and TechTool Monitor.

So far only issue I've encountered is with TopNotch (hides the notch by making the menubar black). It launches but doesn't work when hitting the toggle to hide the notch.

Little Snitch 5.6 launches with a pop-up window claiming a new version is available via Update, but when I selected that option the application crashed.

CrossOver 22.1.1 launches successfully, but none of my Bottles (all of which are 32-bit Windows applications) are working. When opening each Bottle, their Status is displayed as "Scanning" but no Advanced Settings are listed. I first installed Rosetta 2 manually in macOS 14 via the Terminal command (softwareupdate --install-rosetta) before attempting to run the Intel application.

TIP: If you have connectivity issues after installing Sonoma, uninstall LittleSnitch. This did the trick for me. Now WiFi is working again.

Just launched Parallels - there was an update for both Parallels itself and the desktop tools, but it seems to be running normally at this time. Unfortunately, the same can't be said for Affinity Publisher 2. While both Designer and Photo seem to be working fine, Publisher crashes shortly after launch.

I have also verified that both the Steam client and Battle.net launcher are working at this time.
