...that no one will be using because there are almost no iOS apps in the Mac App Store, and Apple prevents us from sideloading apps :)
If apple blocks the sideloading of iOS apps on M1, you can use iMazing or Apple Configurator 2 to extract an .IPA, and use AppDb's Rickpactor to install them. Andrew Tsai has a great tutorial on Youtube, he tests games on Macs, and he's a great youtuber worth your time!

I would love this on iPadOS as well for magic keyboard! Many games that don’t support keyboard input would be amazing with it
That would make a lot of sense, and I could see that possibility. However, Apple's just added support for keyboard input in iPadOS 14, so I could see them take an "it's up to the devs" approach, and not add controller emulation on iPad.

I only wish the discord app would run in ipadOS emulation mode...
From what the developers said in the few posts for the community, the app won't optimised for Apple Silicon for a while and it currently runs like garbage in Rosetta 2.

The only app I found that really runs HORRIBLY under rosetta.

This seems painful, like back to the 80's.
Why no option for not just using your iPhone/iPod/iPad as a dumb controller?

so u consider a touchscreen device a better controller than keyboard/mouse? 🤦‍♂️ if this will be the future then i prefer remain in the 80's with my keyboard/mouse/controller

People who think Apple Arcade can compete with Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo are clueless non-gamers who know nothing about that industry. I've seen it a lot here and it's hilarious.

Maybe they don't care if they can snipe customers from the big AAA console and PC platforms? I know I already have tons of games across multiple platforms. Tons of Steam games, a couple Microsoft store PC titles, GOG, Uplay, Origin... and I also own a bunch of games on the App Store for macOS and iOS.

I doubt they'll ever replace the big names, but they'll carve a niche for some people, and there are still exclusives that those people may find worthy of spending a meager $4.99/month, which grants access to a full library of sometimes regularly updated games, and their saves usually synchronize between iOS devices and macOS.

With this hugely fragmented market, no one competitor is likely to completely replace any of the others. Then again, I don't think there simply being a Steam monopoly is a really good thing, either, no matter how nice their feature set is.

Cool.
Now add eGPU support for M1 macs and update the driver stack to support the RX6000 series!

use the browser version, 90% of the time much better than both the ios and the desktop client anyway

hmm I must not be one of the affected, i’m sideloading practically any app i can think of just fine here with iMazing

What? I don’t have an M1 but do the already supported Xbox/Sony/etc controllers don’t work on iPadOS/iOS apps launched on an M1 or something?
Or this is just for those cases when a controller is not available or the user just doesn’t have one?

There are issues with controllers on M1s when it comes to steam games, but they've apparently been fixed in 11.3. I think this is for those who want to use keyboard and mouse for their favorite games, or when controllers aren't available.

It does. I am running version 60.0 of the Discord app for iPadOS on my M1 MacBook Pro right now. Sideloaded via iMazing. It works great. I can even resize the window and the UI dynamically adjusts. It's one of the best sideloading examples right now, and I've sideloaded hundreds of apps.
