Golden Gate Beta 7: weird halos / rendering glitches in the sidebar, anyone else seeing this?
Since Beta 7, I’ve started noticing some really strange rendering artifacts in the macOS sidebar / Liquid Glass effect.
There’s a bright halo or glow running along the outer edge of the sidebar, especially around the rounded corners. The edge almost looks doubled in places, with a weird bright rim around it. I’m also seeing some uneven bloom / muddy gradients inside the glass itself, and the text and icons sometimes seem to pick up a faint glow or ghosting around them.
I think this is intended. It's meant to represent glass diffusing light & colour from the surrounding content.
It's particularly noticeable for you because A) the system is in dark mode and B) you have a vibrant background.
It's less noticeable in light mode or against less vibrant backgrounds.
This happened on Tahoe as well, but because the sidebars were 'floating' i.e. not all the way to the edges, it made more sense what it was supposed to represent.
Here's some screenshots from mine on B7:
EDIT: Unless you're referring to colour banding? That is a compression artefact that shouldn't be there. It may be monitor-related as I don't see it on my internal MacBook Pro screen.
