As noted by Broadcasts developer Steven Troughton-Smith, many Liquid Glass interface elements on the macOS Golden Gate beta have an even glassier appearance on certain high-end OLED displays with HDR support than they do on ordinary displays.

Apple reportedly plans to release new MacBook Pro or "MacBook Ultra" models with an OLED display by early 2027, so it is likely that macOS Golden Gate has these Liquid Glass enhancements in preparation for those laptops.

OK so we're opening a can of worms here. UI has remained SDR until now, in part because of the higher energy consumption of the HDR mode when enabled. If Golden Gate has HDR elements in the UI, this may be harmless for future OLED-based macbook pros which can control brightness pixel per pixel but this may be problematic for miniled-based macbook pros, which need to light an entire zone in order to render an HDR element.

Macrumors - he says OLED OR HDR display, which the XDR displays already are

OLED will look sharper with per pixel lighting control, but I see nothing in his....Masts? Saying it's specifically ahead of an OLED

That is going to look DROOLICIOUS on an OLED.

I can't wait!!

(I run an OLED external for my MBA)

Broadcasts is a sweet app also.
