Hey everyone, hoping against hope that someone has figured this out.
I have 3 computers sharing a dual monitor setup. A work Windows 11 laptop and my personal Macbook share the two monitors via a CalDigit TS3 hub, they're both using the same DisplayPort outputs of the TS3 (one via a USB-C adapter and the other the TS3's dedicated DP output). A Linux + Windows (dual boot) NAS also shares the two monitors, connected via HDMI ports on the monitors.
To share audio among the three machines, I use the headphone jack on one of the monitors for audio out.
To swap between monitors and audio devices, I physically swap the charging / upstream cable between the laptops.
To swap to the NAS, I switch the monitors over to HDMI instead of the DisplayPort inputs.
I have a bluetooth keyboard with 3 presets to switch between devices for keyboard and mouse.
All of this works great in Linux and Windows, and for display on the Mac, but the Mac audio settings get "stuck" unless I at least log out (or reboot). See the attached screenshot.
If I log out and log back in, I get a third instance of my monitors in the available audio device list (there are only two physical monitors, not three). If I reboot I get the two proper monitors in the audio device list, and one has audio on it.
If I don't reboot, no audio on either monitor in the audio device list. The only thing I can figure (besides the fact that macOS is bad at KVM switching generally), is Soundflower (don't use it very often, but would suck to have to uninstall it...)
