You are correct.I believe that's true for existing accounts. New accounts (new Apple ID) have no choice when it comes to implementing 2FA.

Prove ne wrong ! I had a bad situation with Apple and they were rude to me and didn’t seem to give a hell about my situation. One has to ask themselves - why why every effing year Apple has to update the OS when most of us haven't even gotten to know Big Sur ? This is why I HATE Apple of today compared to the Apple of the Jobs era (2000-2011). at least with Tiger or Leopard you had those for at least 2-4 years before an update, but with Apple of today under Commissar Cook, it seems they don't care about the users. DISGRACE.
Sometimes you need to choose your battle. This is not one you can win, it really is for the best. Stubbornly shifting it to some weird principle of like “…but I should be free to do what I want” is not sensible in this context. Multi factor authentication really does help.I realize I don't want or need a Computer company to force me to do something and not allow me to reverse it if I decide I don't like it.
Apple has become a very creepy company, they should pay more attention to quality control than coming up with ways to control their user base.
Honestly, open your eyes. Windows 10 really isn’t that bad, on the contrary it is actually rather good. Remove yourself from all this negativity and switch.Apple doesn't give a damn about anyone. I paid Apple $350 to replace the circuit board on my Mini a few years ago (I know, dumb move but I was out of work and couldn't afford a new machine at the time), it then went bad just after the 1 year warranty and they wouldn't even offer me 10% off on a new machine.
They just don't care.
If I didn't hate Windows so much I would have dumped Apple right then and there.
Many of us in this forum and other Mac forums use both macOS and Windows. I like Windows, it's just that I like macOS better. You are correct though, Windows is rather good.Honestly, open your eyes. Windows 10 really isn’t that bad, on the contrary it is actually rather good. Remove yourself from all this negativity and switch.
It’s the same for me. I prefer MacOS. The company I work for prefers us to use Windows 10. And I have no issue with either. Many of us in this forum and other Mac forums use both macOS and Windows. I like Windows, it's just that I like macOS better. You are correct though, Windows is rather good.
Tried it, can't stand it.Honestly, open your eyes. Windows 10 really isn’t that bad, on the contrary it is actually rather good. Remove yourself from all this negativity and switch.
You don't have to use Big Sur. Problem solved. That is the truth !!! The icons look like toy cartoon icons - no longer I consider MacOS 11 a great OS, even Linux or BSD is more nature and professional.
I feel your pain and anger with them - there is always Linux.Apple doesn't give a damn about anyone. I'm not that advancedI feel your pain and anger with them - there is always Linux.
I don’t plan to. I will use a professional
OS - FreeBSD.
I just think OS X/OS XI - after Snow Leopard became an OS which integrates with IOS of which I don't think is a great idea. Yes, FreeBSD is actually much better and seems to be more secure than Mac OS X/XI. During the Jobs era, I loved OS X and used it for all my needs and still do use it on my PowerPC Macs like most of us in the PowerPC forums. But, when I tried Big Sur and now looking at Monterey, it sounds like a toy OS with IOS integration, since Apple makes more money on the iTOYS than the macs which aren't as reliable anymore as they used to be in the past.Professional? Must be crushing to worry about what others think of your professionalism by what OS you’re using.
Agree, but I think the biggest threat to the security of cloud storage is from the government. Intelligence agencies can require companies like Apple to provide encryption keys or other access and at the same time prohibit the company from disclosing this activity to the public. Whether through FISA or other mechanisms, these types of arrangements have been widely disclosed (FAIRVIEW, SAGUARO, etc.), but of course there are undoubtedly many that remain undisclosed. It depends on how much you trust the company storing the data and what encryption methods they use. As long as the data is encrypted and decrypted locally, then there isn't much issue. If anyone breaks in to 1Password's cloud and somehow got my password blob, they would still need to have the decryption key to read the passwords.
Yes, is it "less" secure, sure. But never leaving your house is also safer than leaving your house. But, there is always going to be tradeoffs.
^^^^ this, all of this is the reason I’m still with Bitwarden. Not that family sharing.
With 1P or BW, I can create shared vaults that I can give access to members of my family. For me, I have one vault that all members of my family have access to. We put our streaming passwords in this vault so we all have access to our Netflix, Disney+, etc. accounts. I have another vault that only my wife and i have access to. For the most part it contains our bank accounts and passwords, credit card, and other financial account info. If i were to pass away unexpectedly, she would still have access to all our accounts. Finally I keep several vaults for personal use just for convenience. For example all my personal passwords are separate from my work passwords.
So I can sync it to Windows and Linux computers, and Macs that I don't have iCloud enabled on? This is great news!replace third-party services like Lastpass and 1Password.
The Keychain utility dates back to Mac OS 8.6Does... Does no one know about the Keychain Access app in the Utilities folder? It's been there since 10.5! It's synced to iCloud Keychain since day one.
